OverviewDynamic Football02

Walk into trials ready.

Trials can feel like a lot of pressure. Players have a short window to show what they can do, often in front of coaches they have never met. Trial preparation at Dynamic Football helps players sharpen their skills and build the confidence to perform when it counts.

Che Gorr Burchmore joined South Melbourne at 13 and made his professional debut in the Oceania Football League, so he knows what it takes to make the most of an opportunity. Josh Bigos has represented some of Victoria's most respected clubs, including South Melbourne, Bentleigh Greens and Malvern City, and coaches at Wesley College and with the Australian Football Group.

Trial preparation in depthDynamic Football04

What trial coaches look for

Trial coaches rarely expect perfection. They look for players who do the basics well, make good decisions, work hard without the ball and show a positive attitude. A clean first touch, an accurate pass and the willingness to keep going after a mistake often stand out more than a flashy skill.

Preparing in the weeks before

The best trial preparation starts weeks before the trial itself. Regular practice on first touch, passing and finishing builds sharpness, while game-like training helps players make quicker decisions. Our trial preparation focuses on the skills that matter most for each player.

Handling nerves

Nerves are normal. Every player feels them. We help players develop simple routines and a positive mindset so they can stay calm and play their natural game. Read more in our article on how to prepare for football trials.

Whatever the result

Trials are one step in a long journey. Growth takes time. Whatever happens on the day, the work a player puts in to prepare makes them a better footballer. Players with big ambitions can also explore our pathway coaching.

Position by position

Different positions ask different things. Defenders are often judged on their positioning, communication and composure on the ball. Midfielders on their awareness, passing and work rate. Attackers on their movement, confidence and finishing. Goalkeepers on their handling, positioning and distribution. We focus preparation on what matters most for the player's position.
